2 MILES HIGH

Well, 2.3 miles to be exact. Yes, this is truly the best view in Rock Mountain National Park. You can see all the 13ers and 14ers as well as 4 other states!

ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK

The view was amazing! This vista is a short walk up man-made stairs. Don't be fooled, though. Stairs or not, at this altitude, it's quite a hike for only 500 yards.

Yellow-bellied Marmot at RMNP
Grand vistas abound in Rock Mountain National Park. By the way, that's Wyoming way in the background.
Yellow-bellied Marmot. This little guy was following us around during our hike to Rock Cut.

Lava Cliffs at RMNP
Mushroom Rock, the only one of its kind in RMNP. And, "no," I didn't edit the colors.
This is Lava Cliffs, a 300 foot sheer wall of lava rock that has been cut by ice and snow over a long period of time. This picture was taken on July 18, 2006. The snow is actually a small glacier that never melts.
